You may not know this, but I am an avid photographer. I may not make a career of it, but I find tremendous joy in all things photographic–from the gear, to the process, to the final image.

I received an e-newsletter this morning from a company called photojojo. I love the stuff they sell and their light hearted approach. Like this camera lens mug:

Or perhaps you been looking for a fisheye lens for your iPhone?

Well, if you’re not ready to spend your cash on such frivolous items, and you have been wanting to experiment with photography – may I suggest you visit: DIYPhotography. If you are a do-it-yourselfer and want to save some money on studio lighting and such, you can find all sorts of great low cost ideas. Be warned though these projects require some resourcefulness. It isn’t all building stuff however, they also have some great instruction on a variety of techniques too.

Tweet Up Outtakes

Thursday’s Tweet Up, at the Boathouse Restaurant, was a huge success! We had lots of fun, gave out a tonne of prizes and we were able to raise some money for a good cause. What better combination could you ask for?

We here at Engine wanted to take a moment to thank the students from Loyalist PR, who partnered with us to put together this evening of networking and fun. Special thanks to Marina, Jeremy, Michael, Jordan, and Eri for all of their hard work! Thanks to Kerry Ramsay, co-ordinator of the Loyalist PR program, for her direction and guidance.

Another huge thank you goes out to Winding Violets, for taking the time out of their busy schedules to photograph our event. They also donated our grand prize: A private portrait session! (So cool!) Despite poor (very poor) lighting, they took a bunch of great photos, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Fun at Glamour Junkie!

We’re working with a new client, Connie Yrjola, who owns one of the coolest jewellery stores around–Glamour Junkie. This weekend, Connie invited my good friend, photographer and blogger Allison Empey and I, into her store to take some product shots for her new website (which we’re in the process of building).

Connie’s been making jewellery since she was twelve. She works with a variety of materials, and designs in just about every style possible. On top of being incredibly talented and creative, Connie is really, really fun. She said we could share some of the pictures from our shoot here. Keep in mind they’re raw and unedited, but they’ll give you an idea of her work.
